Styles of Patchwork Fabric Prints
There are tiny prints, tone on tone prints, medium florals, large florals, geometric, striped ...
Prints like this very small floral pattern can be used as a companion to larger prints. A (not hard and fast) rule of thumb is the smaller the quilt, the smaller the print.
Medium sized prints
These are the most prevalent designs you will see in quilts, as they are easy to use.
Strong contrast such as black and white even stripes add impact to quilts, if used sparingly.
Masculine, strong, vibrating. All these words describe quilts with geometric prints in them.
Large floral prints
Whether traditional flowers or stylised designs, large flower prints make bold statements.
Tone on tone
Although the fabric above has a defined visible design, it ‘reads’ as one colour from a normal distance away. Use instead of solid coloured fabrics to make your quilts more interesting.
